Theatre
The Municipal Drama Theatre of Marijampole was established in 1992.
In 1995, the theatre went touring to Kokkola, Finland.
There are 300 seats in the theatre. The best music groups and theatres of Lithuania perform regularly in the Municipal Drama Theatre.
Romualdas Kuciauskas is the head and director of the theatre.
Petras Kriauciunas Public Library of Marijampole
In 1921, the department of Lithuanian Central Library was established in Marijampole.
In 1937 the library was named after a famous cultural figure Petras Kriaučiūnas. In the beginning of 2001 the library had 199 thousand volumes of books and 151 different names of periodicals. 88.5 thousand of readers visit the library every year and use 162 thousand of publications.
The Cultural Centre of Marijampole
It is a cultural institution uniting 10 companies with more than 250 art people - dancers, singers, musicians, and theatre lovers. The Cultural Centre has its traditional events and altogether looks for the new forms of organizing the events to attract people of variuos ages - from pre-school to the elderly citizens. It has the spectator hall with 500 seats, parquet nad choreography halls.
The Museum of Ethnography
There are about 30 000 exhibits, 19 000 of which are in the main fund of the Museum Of Ethnography. The biggest collections are of every day life artifacts, folk art, ethnography. The other collections of archeology, numismatics, photography, writings, and applied art are also numerous. At the moment, 4 expositions are open: ethnography, folk art collection, and renewed expositions of exile and Tauras Regiment partisans. The expositions of folk art, scientific works photography are held in the museum.
The Cinema "Spindulys"
It was built in 1971. In 2001. the cinema was modernized. Now there are 2 halls in the cinema. The big one has 455 seats, the small one - 52 seats.
